Jimmy Liao est un illustrateur et auteur de livres d'images. Il a publié des travaux dans de nombreux journaux et magazines, avant de produire ses premiers livres d'images en 1998 avec « Secrets in the woods » et « A fish that smiled at me ». Il est devenu célèbre dans les pays sinophones avec des films, des adaptations télévisées et des collaborations minutieusement choisis. On peut reconnaître son travail grâce à son univers enfantin et espiègle aux couleurs audacieuses, qui fait souvent allusion à un monde poétique, parfois mélancolique, mais toujours rempli de profondes émotions.
